Internet! I finally have Internet! For those who have been following you've probably noticed I haven't posted in a week, and that's because I haven't been able to get online, which is common for the life of a backpacker, but a difficult adjustment when you're an Internet savvy New Yorker like myself.
How to recap these past few days...
Perhaps, once again, photos will do justice to the amazing things I have seen, beaches I discovered, sunsets, people, food I have tasted - the most scrumptious salads, yogurt, fruit, falafal - and day to day adventures. I have spent a solid 10 days in Sydney and 4 days in Bondi and have truly come to love this city. I ventured through neighborhoods: Surry Hills, Glebe, Paddington, Newtown, Coogee, Manly; I toured the Sydney University campus; spent Shabbat with home-baked challah and Cabernet watching the sunset over Bondi beach; bought local gifts and food at the weekend markets; hiked through waterfalls in the Blue Mountains. Most importantly I have felt inspired.
Sydney is an amazing place. It is expensive - my apple this morning cost $2 - but it is thriving with artists and tastemakers, good food, incredible fashion, and stunning beaches, and I am so thankful for the few weeks I have spent here.
Tomorrow I am leaving for a one-month road trip up the east coast, arriving in Cairns in early March. It should be wild! And I'm looking forward to many new things, including surfing for the first time, diving in the Great Barrier Reef, and sailing the Whitsunday Island for three days.
I will post as often as I can (Internet depending). Until then...G'day!
